The Rich and the Famous

Almost all of the time, charities are set up to assist the poor and needy and the vulnerable around the world.

It is very rare to hear of charities that would reach out to the rich and famous in society.

In Mark 10: vs 23 - 25, the Bible states that it would be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

This is a very tough statement made by the son of God in the Bible. Why would it be so hard for the rich to gain eternal life? Why is it so important to reach out to the rich?

There are many rich people out there doing so much good for society in the form of donations and supporting charities and helping the poor all over the world..

However, one thing may be lacking and that is having a relationship with God. God loves the rich and wants to reach out to them.

The rich have very busy schedules which sometimes prevents them from coming close to God and sometimes do not see the need for that.

As a foundation, we have volunteers who would like to volunteer their time to meet and reach out to the rich and famous in society and talk about what and how can the rich make it to heaven.

We would talk about what needs to be done for them not to be disappointed by not having the chance of going to heaven after they pass away from this world.

In return for our time, we would ask that the rich would sponsor a child or they would  assist in renovating a classroom or help with classroom furniture or provide educational materials for some of the schools we are helping in Africa .

Welcome to the Sam & Emily Kanu foundation UK, working in partnership with Harris Academy Greenwich UK. We are a registered charity with the UK HMRC Registration Reference Number: EW90514. The foundation is a non-profit charity based in London, England  founded in 2007 which is dedicated towards helping schools and communities with emphasis on underprivileged children in the West African country of Sierra Leone, by assisting with educational and other social needs.

We provide aid to children and communities from various social circumstances with the primary focus being those that are poor widows and also those who were orphaned during the fifteen year civil war that ravaged Sierra Leone and left so many destitute in need of economic and social assistance.

We also seek to provide scholarships and bursaries for children whose parents cannot afford to pay their school fees or buy basics such as uniforms and other necessary educational provisions.

We make every effort to buy and solicit support in educational materials such as text books and note books, pencils, geometry sets, computers as well as classroom furniture for the students.

In that light, we welcome new and second hand clothes, shoes and anything that might otherwise ease the difficult circumstances by which these young bright individuals have to live their lives. We firmly believe that education among the young African population is the key to easing and eventually eradicating poverty in Africa.

We also aim to solicit financial support in buying these educational materials as well as welcome aid in shipping them to Sierra Leone.

Below are pictures showing Mr & Mrs Kanu making a donation of 170 chairs, 26 Boxes of text books; 56 boxes of uniforms including Blazers, tracksuit tops and bottoms; T-Shirts, shorts and other sport kits to The Sengbe Pieh Memorial Secondary school and the Hamilton Community Primary School in Hamilton, Sierra Leone. Also showing is students of the Albert Academy showing appreciation for the work the couple are doing towards the school. Also showing is distribution of educational materials to the Thompsonia Primary School at Wilberforce.
